Our Materials

Wondering if we can form it? At Lane Company, we work with a wide range of top-grade materials across many verticals. Our team can review how your part will be used to help you select a material suited to the application.

Materials We Use in Thermoforming Projects

We form materials for a wide variety of applications, ranging from retail displays and protective equipment housings to plastic shrouds and one-of-a-kind components. Every custom part presents its own forming challenges, and our skill across varied applications helps us understand what each material can do. With over 50 years of experience and over a dozen materials offered, we can help you find the best material for your thermoformed project.

  • HDPE – A strong, lightweight thermoplastic known for its excellent chemical resistance, impact strength, moisture resistance, and durability.

  • HIPS – An economical and versatile plastic that can be easily formed and customized. While it offers good impact resistance, it is generally less durable and rigid than ABS.

  • ABS – A durable, rigid plastic known for its excellent impact resistance. ABS is available in a wide variety of colors, finishes, and textures, making it a versatile choice for many applications.

  • FR ABS – An ABS that has been specially formulated with flame-retardant additives to reduce its tendency to ignite and help slow the spread of fire.

  • PETG – A clear, durable plastic recognized for its excellent impact resistance and ease of forming. PETG provides a combination of strength, clarity, and versatility for a variety of applications.

  • Kydex/Bolteron – High-performance thermoplastic sheet materials designed for thermoforming and demanding applications.

  • Acrylic – A versatile, transparent material that offers excellent clarity and good abrasion resistance. Acrylic is also available in a broad range of colors and finishes to meet different design requirements.

  • EPVC – A lightweight, rigid plastic sheet made by creating a cellular foam structure within standard PVC material.
  • TPO – A durable thermoplastic material known for its outstanding impact resistance and weatherability. TPO can be produced with a smooth, glossy finish and is well suited for outdoor applications, although it offers less flexibility during forming than some other thermoforming materials.

  • Polycarbonate – A high-performance, transparent plastic known for its exceptional impact resistance and ability to withstand elevated temperatures. Polycarbonate is an excellent choice for demanding applications that require both strength and durability.

  • HMWPE – A tough, durable form of polyethylene commonly used when a component needs excellent impact resistance, abrasion resistance, and chemical resistance.

  • PETG Foam – A lightweight, cellular version of PETG. It combines PETG’s durability and chemical resistance with a foamed structure that reduces weight and material usage.

  • PP (Polypropylene) – A lightweight, versatile plastic with excellent heat and chemical resistance. Slightly harder than polyethylene, polypropylene offers a strong combination of durability, low density, and performance for a wide range of applications.
